The Conflict Of The Behavior Of Turkey Over NATO Objectives
The most influential and strong organization that is joined by 29 states all over the world that aims to defend each other from any possibility of the communist Soviet Union taking control of their nation is the organization called NATO or North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
Now one of the very critical issues that has been dealt with in NATO lately is the issue with Turkey, as the members are now on the verge of deciding if this country is a tolerable ally for their cause or not, as there are actions made by Turkey that jeopardize other state leader’s actions because of the behavior of one of their member.
One reason for this is the continued occupation and acquisition of Turkey in like almost 1/3 of Cyprus, and with Cyprus being now part of the European Union, it has become a more awkward concern over the years for the members of both EU and NATO that one member is occupying another member’s territory.
Another factor that is raising an issue especially with the United States is the fact that the US President cannot condemn the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin for setting up states in other countries not their own, as it is also the what Turkey is doing here.
Another aspect that raised concern is the allegations that raised many attention from all political views that the political leaders of Turkey have instead a form of allegiance in a discreet manner with ISIS being that they are keen about delaying measures to weaken the terrorist organization and they have limited support to airstrikes against ISIS and gives little assistance to those that want to thwart the group.
Another troubling matter is the authoritarianism in Turkey’s domestic affairs as those that are known to be against the rule of President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an is either arrested or unjustly treated and captured, and there was also a round of news that President Erdo?an had manipulated the media in all aspect to drive his own agenda.
This political issue is the one that is raising concern from all of NATO members especially from the US President and it has been a continued argument until now if Turkey will remain as a member of NATO and discussions are still in place for such.
It is so much of a great concern as this is also going against the values of the organization’s commitment to democracy and human rights which is completely now irrelevant with how Turkey is acting in general including all other countries that are in the hot seat for unscrupulous behavior.
